Scarce 1901 Old Tom Morris Ogden's Golf Card

Presented here is one of the most significant golf cards in existence - the 1901 Ogdens Guinea Gold Old Tom Morris. It is estimated that only 50 or so of these cards exist. The number may actually be fewer, as the PSA Set Registry shows that only 22 of these cards have ever been graded. The only other golf card that even touches the rarity and value of this card is the 1900 Copes Old Tom Morris, which is equally as rare as the card presented here.

For some reason, golf cards have never achieved the value that their extreme rarity warrants. To put this card's rarity in perspective, one can simply look to baseball. 10 years after this Tom Morris card was produced, another card was produced which only 50 are known to exist. That baseball card is the 1911 T201 Honus Wagner. Recent examples have sold for $282,000 in the poorest condition and in excess of $2 million in the highest graded examplest. Now, we do not expect golf cards to ever reach the lofty prestige and value of baseball cards, but we do expect collectors to further recognize their value and the finest examples to soar in value in coming years.

This well-centered card of Old Tom Morris is in good condition, and is the rare opportunity to obtain one of the rarest golf cards in existence, and one of the only chances to obtain an authentic piece of memorabilia of Old Tom Morris.
