President Dwight Eisenhower's Custom "Ike"
Headcovers
What an incredible find! When we first learned of Eisenhower's golf bag and
clubs, they were sitting in the garage of a family in Augusta, Georgia, where
they had resided for years after being passed down in the family for decades.
Unfortunately, we were told, the family wasn't all that keen on selling the
clubs. Fast forward a few months and we finally have Eisenhower's clubs - and we
got them just in time to feature them in our Masters Week auction!
Presented in this lot are 3 of Dwight Eisenhower's custom headcovers - each
emblazoned with his nickname "Ike". These custom headcovers, 2-4 woods,
were found with Eisenhower's bag, clubs and driver headcover that are offered
elsewhere in the auction. Therefore, it is only natural to assume that these too
were used by Ike at famed Augusta National Golf Club. Very few pieces of
Eisenhower golf memorabilia are known to exist, and even fewer relate to Augusta
National. These headcovers are in remarkable condition.
