Ben Hogan
Scarce Alling Rubber Co. Golf Ball
(Only Child's Size Known)
This is certainly one of the
finest Masters Contestant's badges in existence - a near mint prototype
contestant's badge #00 from the 1950 Masters Tournament.
This badge was discovered a couple years
ago at an estate sale in Atlanta in a box with dozens of salesman's samples of
random pins and buttons (some Augusta National related, but most not even golf
related). After reviewing the contents of that box, it is almost certain that
they once belonged to a salesman for the Bastian Bros. Badge and Pin Co. of
Rochester, NY. That historic find brought us the famous 1961 Masters Badge #000
from our 2011 Masters Auction, the early Augusta National Caddie Badge also in
this auction, and now it brings us this very rare 1950 Masters Contestant's
badge #00.
