Significant Allan Robertson Feathery

(From Tufts Collection)

The presented ball is truly one of the finer featheries in existence - a truly mint condition ball bearing a very prominent mark of famed ballmaker (and Tom Morris mentor) Allan Robertson.  Allan was widely regarded as the finest feather ball maker of his day.  This ball dates from approximately 1840 and is a size 30. The fact that it has survived the past 170 years in this condition is nothing short of remarkable. The ball comes from the famous collection of World Golf Hall of Famer (and former USGA President) Richard Tufts. Robertson balls of this quality have sold for upwards of $30,000
