The Ryder Cup
Doug Sanders' 1971 U.S. Open
Low Scorer Qualifying Medal
THE DOUG SANDERS COLLECTION
Offered in this auction are some exceptional pieces of memorabilia from the
personal collection of former PGA Tour star Doug Sanders. Doug Sanders won 20
times on the PGA Tour, and finished in the top 4 in every Major Championship.
Despite his overwhelming success as a professional golfer, Mr. Sanders is
notoriously remembered for missing a 3-foot putt to win the 1970 Open
Championship at St. Andrews - a tournament that Jack Nicklaus would go on to win
by one stroke in a playoff the next day.
Offered here is Doug Sanders' personal low scorer medal from sectional
qualifying of the 1971 U.S. Open. This impressive sterling silver USGA piece
comes with a letter of authenticity from Doug Sanders himself.
