Scarce John Laidlay Handwritten Letter

In this auction, we are proud to offer an authentic autograph of 1889 and 1891 British Amateur Champion Johnny on Johnny Laidlay. Laidlay also famously invented the overlap grip that over 90% of golfers reportedly use today, though the grip is often incorrectly credited to Harry Vardon. In the 2006 GilChrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles, an autograph of Laidlay, who died in 1940, is listed at $1,500. This is not just a cut signature of Laidlay, but is a full letter written and signed by the great champion.
