1901 Edition of The Book of Sport

New York Edition

Offered here is a rare 1901 edition of The Book of Sport (New York Edition). This large tome measures 14 1/2" x 11" with 400+ pages and weighing in at a hefty 10 pounds.

Highlights are the Chapters on Golf, the first in the book. With well known names such as amateurs Walter Travis, Findlay Douglas and H.M. Harriman on the men's side and Beatrix Hoyt, Ruth Underhill and Frances Griscom for women, this is truly an early history of American golf. The book has many wonderful plates and and images of both the original Havemeyer and Robert Cox trophies.

Book is in good overall condition although the cover has separated at the spine from within, not affecting the outward appearance.

This edition is copy 38 of 450.
