Early Masters Tournament 1st Tee Photo
of Bobby Jones, Ralph Guldahl and ANGC member Jerry Franklin
In this auction, we have the extreme
privilege of offering the personal collection of the late Ed Dudley. In addition
to being a 15 time winner on the PGA Tour, Dudley is probably best known for
being the 1st Head Pro at Augusta National. Not only was he Head Pro at Augusta,
Dudley also competed in every Masters Tournament from 1934 to 1950. Dudley was
also the golf coach for Dwight Eisenhower, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.
This original 1930's photograph
depicts an extraordinary scene at the first tee at Augusta National. Judging by
the crowd, this photograph was almost certainly taken during Masters week.
In this exceptional, clear 8x10
photo, ANGC Member Jerry Franklin strikes a drive from the 1st tee with Bobby
Jones, with driver in hand, admiring the shot and getting ready to play the next
ball. Ralph Guldahl is seated, also with club in hand.
