1933 Ryder Cup Dinner Photo
Aboard The Ship Aquitania
In this auction, we have the extreme privilege of offering the personal
collection of the late Ed Dudley. In addition to being a 15 time winner on the
PGA Tour, Dudley is probably best known for being the 1st Head Pro at Augusta
National. Not only was he Head Pro at Augusta, Dudley also competed in every
Masters Tournament from 1934 to 1950. Dudley was also the golf coach for Dwight
Eisenhower, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.
Offered here is Ed Dudley's personal
photograph of the American Team dinner aboard the Aquitania en route to the 1933
Ryder Cup Matches in Southport, England. Walter Hagen was captain of the 1933
U.S. Team, which also included Horton Smith and Gene Sarazen.
The back of this photo contains some
exceptional handwritten notes, including the name of the ship and the quote
"last night out". The back of this photo is dated June 20, 1933 - just 6 days
before the 1933 Ryder Cup would take place.
This original 1933 Ryder Cup photo
measures 6 1/2" x 4 3/4".
