Early Snapshot of

the St. Andrews Clubhouse

This is an exceptional early circa 1920's snapshot of the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse at St. Andrews. This photo was owned (and possibly taken by?) the great Joe Kirkwood, Sr, who is credited with popularizing golf in Australia. Kirkwood was best friends with Walter Hagen, and this photo may have been from the year he and Hagen traveled the globe putting on golf exhibitions. Kirkwoods travels in 1924 did take him to St. Andrews, which may have been the origin of this photo.

This 2 7/8" x 4 7/8" photo comes with a signed note from Joe Kirkwood, Sr.'s son attesting to it belonging to his famous father.
