1936 PGA Championship

Contestants Badge

(Pinehurst's First Major)

Our consignor's uncle, Alvin Krueger, was a professional golfer in the 1930's. Fortunately for us Krueger had a tendency to save his player badges, including from 1936 when he participated in the Masters Tournament, U.S. Open and PGA Championship.

Advanced collectors will quickly note that 1936 wasn't just any year - it was the year Pinehurst first hosted a PGA Tournament, the 1936 PGA Championship. Offered here is an official contestant's pin from the 1936 PGA Championship, which was held at Pinehurst and won by Denny Shute.
