1929 U.S. Amateur Badge

(Pebble Beach's 1st Major)

In 1929, the USGA took one of its Major Championships west of the Mississippi for the first time ever. The 1929 U.S. Amateur was help at a course now known the world over - Pebble Beach Golf Links. Golf historians will also note that the 1929 U.S. Amateur was important for another reason. When Bobby Jones was unexpectedly defeated, he made the most of his West Coast trip but visiting another California golf course that was getting rave reviews - Cypress Point. Jones fell in love with Cypress Point, and just 4 years later would enlist Alister MacKenzie to design Augusta National. Who knows, if not for that fateful trip to Pebble Beach (or ill-fated loss in the '29 Amateur), all of golf history may have changed.

Offered here is a rare original ticket from Pebble Beach's first Major Championship - the 1929 U.S. Amateur.
