Circa 1930s Papier Mache
Tommy Armour Golf Ball Counter Display
This is a
scarce circa 1930s papier mache advertising piece for Tommy Armour golf
balls. This is the only such example we've ever seen, which is no surprise
due to the extreme delicate nature of papier mache. Papier mache golf shop
advertising pieces were once popular - the most famous being the Silver King
figure from the 1910s which sold for over $60,000 in our Spring Golf
Auction). But the fact that any original papier mache counter displays have
survived for several decades is remarkable. This impressive golf ball
advertisement measures 9.5" tall.
