Horton Smith's
1951 Masters Tournament Gift
This is the rare Masters Tournament Gift from the year of Ben Hogan's historic win at the 1951
Masters Tournament. This cigarette box was presented to players and dignitaries of the 1951 Masters Tournament, and is widely considered among the most sought-after of all
Masters gifts.
All 1951 Masters boxes are coveted by collectors, but it really doesn't get any better than the offered example, which belonged to 1934 and '36 Masters Champion Horton Smith. While we occasionally come across these gift boxes from lesser players, this is the first time we've also had the gift card that goes along with this wonderful Masters memento. Anything and everything Horton Smith related is coveted by collectors, as the first Masters Champion has developed a cult-like following in recent years. This exquisite box was passed down through the family of Horton's brother (and sole heir), Ren Smith and is being sold publicly for the first time in this auction.
