Horton Smith's 1933 Ryder Cup Watch
- Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso
Offered here is the actual watch presented to the great Horton Smith at the 1933 Ryder Cup, which was held at Southport & Hinsdale Golf Club in Southport, England. This iconic Jaeger LeCoultre "Reverso" watch was presented to the Walter Hagen-led United States Team, which lost the 1933 Ryder Cup to JH Taylor's British squad.
This watch was passed down through the family of Horton's brother (and sole heir), Ren Smith. It has never been offered publicly before today. Watch collectors will certainly be impressed by this early Reverso, which was created by Jaeger LeCoultre in 1931 - just 2 years before this watch was presented to Horton Smith. We spoke with Jaeger LeCoultre, and they will happily restore this watch (for a fee, of course) should the winning bidder desire. Everything about the watch is original, though the strap is a replacement.
