A Short Love Story-
The People of St Andrews Scotland
and Robert T. (Bobby) Jones Jr.
It
is not often that such an cool artifact relating to the life and
accomplishments of the immortal Bobby Jones comes to auction. In 1958,
Jones received perhaps his greatest honor when the people of St.
Andrew's, Scotland awarded him the Freedom of the City and the Royal
Burgh of St. Andrews award, in what has been called the most moving
ceremony in the history of golf.
Here
is a program put out by The Atlanta Athletic Club commemorating that historic ceremony at St. Andrews on October
9, 1958. This booklet is very seldom seen and collectors have long searched for this gem,
which would make a valued addition to any collection. From the Library of Joseph Bridger Hackler and includes his bookplate.
Also comes with a rarely seen pamphlet for the Robert T. Jones, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
