Circa 1880 Charlie Hunter

Long Nose Putter

Though he does not entertain the current fame of Tom Morris, Willie Park or that of many of his contemporaries, Charlie Hunter was one of the most beloved figures in all of golf in the late 1800s. "He is to Prestwick and the West of Scotland what his old friend Tom Morris, whom he succeeded in the custodianship of Prestwick, is to St. Andrews." Golf Illustrated, 10 July 1903 (from The Clubmaker's Art (2nd Edition) by Jeffery B. Ellis, p. 86).

Offered here is a Circa 1870s-1880s long nose putter made by Charlie Hunter. The club is in Good overall condition, and has and easily-readable "C HUNTER" stamped on the top of this dark wood putter. Putter measures 37".
