Bing Crosby's Personally Owned
1963 Frank Sinatra Invitational Putter

In 1963, the PGA sanctioned a one-time-only Frank Sinatra Invitational golf tournament. The tournament became the stuff of legends. And to collectors, the player gift from that tournament - a copper plated Macgregor putter designed by Tonney Penna and bearing the likeness of Frank Sinatra - is considered perhaps the most desirable and valuable of all classic golf clubs. Only 150 of these putters are believed to have been produced and given to the golfers and Hollywood elite who participated in the 1963 Frank Sinatra Invitational. Of those 150, only two dozen have since been accounted for.

The offered club is surely the most important 1963 Frank Sinatra putter to reach the auction block, as it is believed to have been owned by Bing Crosby himself. It is also likely the most recently-discovered example of the 1963 Frank Sinatra putter, as it was discovered in August 2013 during the estate sale for Bing Crosby's longtime accountant Mozelle Seger along with numerous other items from Crosby's estate. Since we know that she did not compete in the 1963 Frank Sinatra Invitational, but do know that Crosby himself certainly did, it only stands to reason that this putter originated from Crosby himself at that event.

The putter is in exceptional condition. It was discovered in its original headcover in the garage of the late Ms. Seger, so we can only presume that this putter has been stored for decades perfectly preserved in its own headcover.
