Practical Golf
by Walter J. Travis
When compiling a short list of early American golf pioneers, the name of Walter J. Travis undeniably hovers toward the top. From his contributions to golf course architecture (Ekwanok, etc.), his use of new equipment technology of the time (Haskell Rubber Cored Ball, Schenectady Putter) or his outstanding amateur play (first man to hold British & American Amateur Championships simultaneously) … Travis had a penchant for blazing new trails. Of all his talents however, his greatest accomplishments may have come in his golf writings. Travis was a prolific writer and even served as the Founder and Publisher of The American Golfer Magazine. His classic book Practical Golf, we are excited to offer within this auction. It is a 1909 Revised Edition that presents in good condition with a tight binding and spine.
