Original 1962 Gene Sarazen
Chicago Tribune Artwork

Offered here is a very unique piece of golf artwork that recounts one of the most iconic Masters Moments in history, Gene Sarazen's "Shot Heard Round the World" Double Eagle at the 1935 Masters.  The original three-panel illustration was originally published March 5, 1962 in the Chicago Tribune, as told by golf writer Charlie Bartlett and drawn by Mel Keefer.

Beginning in the early nineteen fifties BC (Before Computers), Mel Keefer brought characters to life with the simplicity and clarity of pen and ink. With comic strips, comic books, book illustrations, advertising art, and television and film, Mel captured the times for posterity and delivered them as entertainment. His Mac Divot golf series (written by Jordan Lansky), syndicated by the Chicago Tribune to run in 150 papers nationwide and internationally, taught us how to play golf while bringing the stories of sport stars and celebrities into our kitchens and living rooms for 22 years.  The illustration measures 7 1/4" x 22" and is matted to an overall size of 24 1/2" x 10".
