Circa 1895 Stanhopes
Featuring Old Tom Morris
Though impossible to photograph, Stanhopes are something you just have to see to believe. Before "viewers" and similar entertainment devices became popular in the 1900s, a French company produced these tiny Stanhopes that, when looked through like a small telescope, showed a photograph.
In the case of the offered Stanhope, the image inside is that of the great Old Tom Morris. It's really like a time capsule of viewing a 19th century Tom Morris photograph in its original form.
