Ceramic Art Company
(CAC) Blue Stein
The
rarity and beauty of this 5 ¾” tall, blue CAC (Ceramic Art Company) Porcelain
Stein cannot be overstated, as it is pre-Lenox and was crafted circa
1890-1895. Per Sprung’s book, Decorative
Golf Collectibles, “Walter Scott Lenox founded the Ceramic Art Company in
Trenton, NJ in 1889, but Lenox assumed complete control around 1895. In
1906, the name was changed to Lenox China Company.”
Blue
steins like this example are far more rare than green and other than a very
small rim chip on the base in back, this stein is in superb condition. The pictures cannot possibly capture the
beauty of the deep blue color. The CAC maker’s mark can be found within
the wreath on the base.
