Lot of World War I Golf Related Items
Presented
here are three items from the "Great War" 1914-1918. In a conflict that saw British golf professionals and greens staff signing up for the trenches of Northern France and never coming home, these items are quite attention grabbing. Included here is a spectacular original photograph of a golf playing British "Tommy" in full uniform perhaps waiting to go to War; an original postcard (or original handwritten envelope) showing what a soldier could look forward to on his return home - playing golf! And lastly, a rare stand alone thick cardboard "Connoisseur" Calendar "for Collectors" from the year 1914 - produced shortly before Europe went to war.
