Ted Ray Signed Letter and Telegram from
1912 Acceptance of Oxhey Professional Job
The great Ted Ray famously won the 1912 Open Championship and 1920 US Open. For Americans, he is also famous for losing in a playoff to Francis Ouimet at the 1913 US Open. Ted Ray is mosrt often associated with Oxhey Golf Club, where he held the position as head golf professional from 1912 until he resigned due to illness in 1941 (Ray would then pass away in 1943).
Offered here is an actual autographed letter and telegram from when Ted Ray accepted the position of Professional at Oxhey Golf Club in 1912. The letter is dated February 6, 1912 letting a Mr. Parker know that he will get back to him regarding the offer of golf professional at Oxhey Golf Club. The wire was sent 8 days later and contains Ted Rays acceptance of the job he would then hold for 30 years.
This original letter and wire have been framed with a photograph to an overall size of 15" x 23".
