Photo display autographed by Augusta National Golf Club co-founder Clifford Roberts. Cliff Roberts signed and dated 1977. Signed on mat. Roberts' autograph is dated April 20, 1977 - just 5 months before he would take his own life.
The photo is made out to Rogers Bennett, an Augusta National nurseryman. The only story that we know about Rogers Bennett is one of the most infamous Augusta National Golf Club stories in history. The account of what transpired on October 19, 1975 is cloudy, but Bennett spotted some local boys fishing in Rae's Creek. Knowing that Clifford Roberts had recently informed all staff that the club needed to crack down on this behavior, Bennett promptly informed security guard Charlie Young. What exactly happened next is up for dispute, but 3 of the boys sued Augusta National for a substantial sum. More scandalous details of this alleged stories can be found in the book "Augusta: Home of the Masters Tournament" by Steve Eubanks.
Beautiful green and gold frame. 8x10" photo framed to 13x15".
