This
is
a circa 1870s putter by F&A Carrick of Musselburgh. This is a rare
early metal putter by Carrick from a time when most golfers were still
using wooden long nose putters. But this is a great example of what
other options were out there for golfers even in the 1870s. Deep block
letter "F&A Carrick, Musselburgh" stamp with the "X" trademark (the
Carricks were the first clubmaker to attach a trademark stamp to their
clubs). This putter contains a thick 4" hosel with very heavy hosel
nicking.
