Presented
here is an actual "Player's" trophy that was presented to the 1995 American
Ryder Cup team, including the Captain, Co-Captain and some officials.
Specifically, this Ryder Cup Trophy for auction was given to a former PGA
President who will remain nameless. The owner's name is engraved on a silver band at the base of
this great trophy, though we have obscured it in photos to avoid unwanted attention.
Though any original Ryder Cup trophy is coveted by collectors, the 1995 trophy is surely one of the finest ever produced. In 1995, the entire band of the trophy was engraved with the facsimile signatures of the American Team. 1995 was one of the only such times that this special engraving was done. This special engraving was also done on the Captains' Trophies that were retroactively awarded to past Captains in May of 1995 (past sales: $33,715 and $24,019).
The offered Ryder Cup trophy is not a retroactively awarded trophy; nor is it a later replacement. This is an actual original trophy awarded at the 1995 Ryder Cup Matches at Oak Hill Country Club.
12" tall and 6" from handle to handle.
