Fine original circa 1893 Robert Anderson Patent center-shafted Crescent cleek. The patent for Anderson's crescent head irons was filed in 1892, and the clubs reached the marketplace in April 1893. The cresent-shaped head allowed to locate the shaft directly behind the center of the face, and was intended to be a "powerful driving cleek." Though it received favorable reviews, the club "was not widely accepted" by golfers. ("The Clubmaker's Art (2nd Ed), Jeffery B. Ellis, p. 220).

To collectors, of course, an unusual that was not widely adopted equals rarity. In our opinion, it's hard to find a more visually impressive patent club than a Robert Anderson crescent iron.
