Offered here is a truly special book - a signed 1928 Limited First Edition (#54 of 260) of Scotland's Gift: Golf – Reminiscences by
Charles Blair Macdonald. Of course, nobody accepted that gift of golf
and fostered it in America like C.B. MacDonald, who is widely recognized
as the Father of American Golf Course Architecture.
The book covers
the spread of golf (prominently featuring himself) in the United States
from its beginnings in the early 1890s to 1927, when there were some
4,000 courses in the country. It devotes several chapters to four of
his courses, and gives his design philosophy. The book displays in very good condition and is listed within Gilchrist’s Guide to Golf Collectibles at $3,750.
