In 2005, celebrated artist Walt Spitzmiller began work on an ambitious project titled “Jack’s Majors.”  With Jack Nicklaus’ blessing, 18 original oil paintings were produced - one for each of Jack Nicklaus’ 18 Major Championships. It took a full 8 years for Spitzmiller to perfect the series of paintings. Nicklaus said “I have always respected Walt’s work and how he interprets a scene and a moment in history. Walt dedicated himself to the challenge of putting on canvas the story of my 18 majors. It took me 25 years to win them, and it took Walt eight years to paint them.”

These Spitzmiller paintings were then used to produce limited edition prints/giclees, including much-celebrated series of portfolio books, which sold for $7,500 each.

Offered here is an original oil on canvas from that series celebrating Jack Nicklaus’ 1986 Masters Tournament victory: In arguably the greatest Masters Tournament ever, Spitzmiller recreates the iconic image of Nicklaus making his birdie putt on the 16th hole on his way to his record sixth Masters victory

Do You Believe in Magic by Walt Spitzmiller, 2013, Oil on Canvas, 24” x 36”

This is without question the most desirable of Spitsmiller’s 18 original paintings featuring Jack Nicklaus. This investment grade original oil painting would be a perfect fit for any museum or private collection.
