This is an original 1907 handwritten letter from Alex "Sandy" Herd, which was originally obtained from the archives of the now-defunct Golfing Magazine based in London. In this letter, 1902 Open Championship winner Sandy Herd replies to the magazine's editor who requested Herd provide a list of golf clubs that are essential to form a "complete outfit."

Herd's letter contains an exceptional masthead, where it references his 1902 Open Championship victory. High grade Sandy Herd autograph. This comes from the personal collection of noted golf historian Mark Emerson.
