Henry
James Whigham was a Scottish writer and highly skilled amateur golfer
of his era. At the urging and arrangement of Charles Blair Macdonald,
Whigham traveled to America to demonstrate golf at the 1893 Chicago
World’s Fair. That trip to America proved extremely timely and
beneficial for Whigham, as just a few years later he would claim victory
in back-to-back (1896 & 1897) United States Amateur Championships
and go on to marry C.B. Macdonald’s daughter. 1897 1st edition is good condition. Given as a gift to someone with notation on flyleaf.
