Offered here is the actual runner-up medal from the 1928 US Amateur at Brae Burn, which for the first time featured the reigning US Amateur and British Amateur Champions against each other in the final - Bobby Jones and Philip Perkins. Bobby Jones made his way with Perkins quite easily, winning the match, 10&9. It was Bobby Jones' 8th Major Championship victory.
Quite spectacularly, this runner-up medal is not only engraved with Perkins' name, but also with the name of the famous man who beat him - Robert T. Jones, Jr.
This medal remained in the Perkins family until very recently, when it was obtained it from Perkins' grandson. This sterling silver 1928 USGA US Amateur runner-up medal measures 1 3/4".
