US Patent number 2,486,827 dates this ingenious golf club carrier to November 1, 1949. It consists of a rolled leather handle from which are suspended two leather straps separated by a slender metal rod. The straps are looped through a buckle to expand for additional clubs. Attached to the handle is a leather bag which is cinched with a leather thong threaded through several metal grommets to hold several golf balls. Deceivingly simple, yet wonderfully utilitarian. A rare precursor to the modern golf bag.
This will turn heads when displayed with actual mid-century clubs and balls.
