A superb Robert Ramsbottom “Crescent Iron” with the unique “Claw hosel” patented
1894. Ramsbottom believed the traditional way of shafting clubs was insufficient, and sought a way to reduce the shaft's tendency to break at the socket. (The Clubmaker's Art (2nd Ed) by Jeffery B. Ellis, p. 179). Jeff Ellis goes on to state, in The Clubmaker's Art, that he has only seen 4 similar Ramsbottom irons. Extremely fine condition.
