Golf flags are among the most sought-after modern golf collectibles, but the Holy Grail of golf flags isn't really a golf flag at all - it's the Merion Wicker Basket Standard. Merion Golf Club famously goes to extreme measures to make sure that its wicker standards never leave the club. 

This authentic Merion Wicker Basket dates to the 1980s, and was obtained by Green Jacket Auctions from a friend then-Merion superintendent Richie Valentine.

This original Merion Wicker Basket on original flagstick stands 7 1/2' feet tall. The flagstick is tapered at the bottom. 

**UPDATE** We've been fortunate to auction a handful of Merion wickers in recent years, most of which originated from Richie Valentine. Unfortunately this is the last of them, which means Merion wicker prices will almost certainly soar in the near future as their true rarity becomes known.
