In 1894, a 23 year old JH Taylor formed a golf club company "Cann & Taylor" with his good friend George Cann. Cann possessed most of the clubmaking skill, but his partnership would choose wise when Taylor won the Open Championship in 1894. Taylor went on to win the Open four more times and become one of the most famous golfers in history. They eventually sold "JH Taylor" signature clubs, but offered here is an earlier rut iron from the 1890s.
This circa 1890s rut iron was produced by Cann & Taylor. The club is in very good condition, and contains an exceptionally bold Cann & Taylor cleekmark.
