Just months after hosting the first ever Augusta National Invitation Tournament (now called The Masters Tournament), Bobby Jones himself sent this letter on Augusta National Golf Club letter head to a William Wells in New Jersey. In the letter, the great Bobby Jones extends an invitation to join Augusta National Golf Club. In the letter, Jones mentions how the course was about to open for only its 3rd season, but that he "expect[s] the course to be in the finest possible condition." 

Here is the complete text of the letter:

"Our Board of Governors has passed your name on to me with the request that I send you an invitation to become a member.

You are familiar with our course, and the enclosed membership card will acquaint you with the cost of a share of club stock and the annual dues. I assure you that it will give us a great deal of pleasure to have your acceptance, which may be communicated by executing and returning to me the enclosed card. 

The Augusta National will open for its third six month season on November 20th, and we expect the course to be in its finest possible condition."
