Offered here is a truly special book - a signed 1928 Limited First Edition (#137 of 260) of Scotland's Gift: Golf by Charles Blair Macdonald. Of course, nobody accepted that gift of golf and fostered it in America like C.B. MacDonald, who is widely recognized as the Father of American Golf Course Architecture. The book contains a very high grade C.B. Macdonald autograph.

The book covers the spread of golf (prominently featuring himself) in the United States from its beginnings in the early 1890s to 1927, when there were some 4,000 courses in the country.  It devotes several chapters to four of his courses, and gives his design philosophy.  The book displays in very good condition and includes the exceptionally rare (it is one of the only we've ever seen) slip case. This also contains 3 additional color plates not found in the trade edition. A recent stand alone slip case sold at PBA Galleries for a whopping $2,750! For just the slip case! The book is listed within Gilchrist’s Guide to Golf Collectibles at $3,750, though the last one we saw offered for sale through Golf Links to the Past was over $12,000.
