Offered here is a circa 1915-1920 Spalding "Olympic" putter fitted with a "Winkworth Scott" patent square steel shaft. Unusual semi-circle clubhead, and an early square steel shaft. According to Jeff Ellis, "Spalding offered their Olympic putter for four years, but very few remain."
This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and was featured in his books, The Golf Club (p. 109) and The Clubmaker's Art (Vol. 1, p. 518; Vol. 2, p. 656). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
