Offered here is a circa 1870-1875 Willie Park Sr. long nose putter. Willie Park Sr. was one of the clubmaking greats of the long nose era. According to Jeff Ellis, this putter bears remarkable resemblance to one of the treasures of Musselburgh Golf Club - Willie Park Sr.'s personal putter. Both clubs show only a tiny amount of hook to the face in contrast to the mainstream fashion of the day. Very good condition with minor marks and wear, and partial grip. There is a small crack running from bottom of the back lead insert. Jeff Ellis goes on to state that "remaining Willie Park Sr. clubs are few in number."

This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and this exact club was featured in his books, The Golf Club (p. 43) and The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 76; TCA 2, p. 80). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
