Offered here is a set of three rare circa 1919 Horton Patent "Wonder Club" combination woods. Each has a wooden head situated within cast-metal brass neck, brace, and sole. Each clubhead is stamped with "Horton" as well as the patent details. According to Jeff Ellis, the "Wonder Clubs" were sold directly by Horton's Golf Company in Chicago.
These clubs originate from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and were featured in his books, The Golf Club (p. 130) and The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 296; TCA 2, p. 356). These club have not reached the collector market since their sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
