Rare circa early 1900s blue Gerz stoneware whisky jug with original stopper and cork.  8 12” tall.  Per Sprung’s book, Decorative Golf Collectibles, these were made by Simon Peter Gerz, with the golf scene in relief and were salt glazed.  Fully marked on the bottom. Marked 043, like the one shown in Decorative Golf Collectibles.  The Gerz factory was founded in Germany in 1857.  Excellent condition – no chips, cracks or repairs.  As with most of the Gerz pieces there are some minor surface imperfections that are original firing flaws and not damage. Includes the original stopper.
