Offered here is one of the most significant single golf clubs in history. The putter offered in this auction was used during numerous Ben Hogan PGA Tour victories before World War II. How do we know this? Well, Ben Hogan himself made that statement in writing in 1973 to a friend after giving him this putter. A putter used by Ben Hogan in a single PGA Tour victory would be worth its weight in gold. But Ben Hogan writes that he used this putter in all of his victories to start his career. That makes this putter, without question, one of the finest pieces of golf memorabilia in the hobby.

Though photo matching of early golf clubs can be very difficult, we have a very high quality image of Ben Hogan putting with what appears to be this exact putter during his victory at the 1942 North & South Open - Ben Hogan's 13th PGA Tour victory.

The offered putter comes with a 1973 letter of authenticity from Ben Hogan himself, on Hogan Company letterhead, detailing the provenance of this club. It is also autographed by Ben Hogan.

1973 Letter of Authenticity and Provenance from Ben Hogan
Letter of Authenticity (as to Hogan's autograph) from PSA/DNA
Certificate of Authenticity from Heritage Auctions
