"Brown's rake irons, or water irons as they are sometimes called, are among the most famous of all golf collectibles." The Clubmaker's Art by Jeff Ellis. The club offered in this auction is the Brown's Patent "Thistle" rake iron. Brown's Patent is an oval stamp on the clubhead, and also stamped "Thistle" and "Montrose, N.B." Referring to the different styles of Brown's rake irons that were produced, The Clubmaker's Art goes on to state that Brown's "Major" rake iron is the most common. "Among other Brown rakes however, the perforated face irons are seldom seen and the Thistle is even more elusive." The offered Brown's Patent rake iron is in very good condition and is being consigned today directly from the World Golf Hall of Fame's Collection. Circa 1904. 35"
