Offered here is a very rare (thought less than 50 made) LaCosta/JAT Tour prototype. Lots to tell about this putter, so we'll turn it over to Vog!

From Vog: This is one of my favorites in this auction. Those in the know are familiar with Sergio Garcia's run at Tiger Woods at the 1999 PGA (including his scissor kick move after hitting from the base of a tree). You may not know that this putter is as close as you can get to Sergio's actual putter he used. The actual putter was something Scotty created as a "sample" or a Just a Thought (JAT) for Sergio who wanted a mallet. Except Scotty really didn't have a head he could put together quickly-except he had an old Mizuno M-400 he saved from his Mother-in-Law's fireplace. He had given it to her as a gift early in his career as an example of his work; she was using it as a fireplace poker, as Scotty described it to me 25 years ago. He cut the neck off the old Mizuno, welded a neck just like this, and finished it for Sergio. Except years in the fireplace had sort of heat treated the metal and the black oxide finish didn't look good. So Scotty stamped it JAT for Sergio as an example of what he could make (with a little more time). Except Sergio LOVED it and didn't want anything else. He wanted THAT putter. Supposedly Sergio recently pulled it out of his cold storage and had it cleaned up by Scotty for his use. I remember when these were made, one or two at a time, as collectors wanted a putter just like Sergio's and I could never acquire one fast enough. Truthfully, I have been looking for one for my collection for 25 years! Made from the rare LaCosta head as Scotty didn't have any other Mizuno heads to create exact replicas. Here's your chance!
