Offered here are three original 1903 letters from Old Tom Morris on Old Tom’s letterhead. The letters are from Old Tom to Walter Wade, and discuss Tom Morris sending Wade a 50 year old feather golf ball, as well as 15 year old hand hammered gutta percha golf balls. Fantastic content, which shows an early collector of golf history in 1903, and Tom Morris’ personal comments on the subject. Quite significantly, Tom Morris goes on to discuss the details of feather ball making. The barely-literate Tom Morris is believed to have only written one letter himself during his life - his resignation letter to Prestwick Golf Club. The 3 letters offered here were penned by Old Tom’s son JOF, but 2 of the 3 are written in Tom Morris’ voice, and JOF has signed his father’s name, as well as his own. All 3 are in outstanding condition.

These original Old Tom Morris letters were previously owned by Tom Morris biographer Peter Crabtree, and was part of his legendary collection.
