MacGregor Byron Nelson Oil Hardened 693 1-2-3-4 matching set. This set has been refinished black. The original “693” stamp under the finish of the 3-wood, however, is still visible. On the 4-wood and the driver the "693" mark has been lightly paint-filled, and the 2 wood has all been paint-filled. The set has its original True Temper Dynamic shafts, driver shaft is 43 inches. Old Pro Only chevron grips appear original.

The lead backweights on these clubs have swollen and protrude dramatically on the 2-, 3-, and 4-wood. The woods appear to have been used. The faces are clean. The head shapes on these are genuine model 69 turnings that match those used on the Tommy Armour 693.  Outstanding shapes!

These clubs are great as is. Their rarity is extreme.  Because these woods have already been refinished, however, a person could strip the finish, fix the lead back weights, and install a stain finish without paint fill in the stamps.The chances are high, at least on some of the clubs, that the original stamps would still be visible once the current finish was stripped off. It could be worth the gamble, because a set of Byron Nelson 693’s is beyond special!
