Offered in MacGregor's 1957 catalog, Toney Penna P40 Super Eye-O-Matic woods have large persimmon heads with nice full faces and attractive red/white/red inserts with a half diamond top. Unique to this model are the large cloverleaf soleplates, as shown in the images. These clubs were geared towards "the hitter and swinger" alike. They came with original True Temper Tourney C shafts, "A medium-stiff pattern preferred by most top tournament players."
The set offered here is still in their original finish with their original shafts, shaft bands, and white rubber grips. The is cracking in the finish towards the rear on the top of both the driver and 2-wood, as can be seen in one of the images. Even so, the clubs still look good and the heads are solid. Rare to begin with, the Penna P40s are exceedingly rare in their original finish.
