Offered here is a 1997 Scotty Cameron Newport Beach with tour "T" stamp.
Vog says: Wow, wow, wow. These were my words when I saw this-the legendary 1997 Newport Beach Scotty Cameron putter. One of just around 100 made for the tour, the Newport Beach is essentially a Newport head with two tweaks - the flat topline (reminiscent of the old Ping Anser) and a floating face or slit in the sole, also seen on the old Anser. The Newport Beach in 1997 also featured Scotty's experimental Oil Can finish, that was designed to age and look like the patina of an old Ping as well. For collectors, these early oil cans are like catnip, even though the finish was very prone to rust. Some of these actually went to the collector's market and not to the tour apparently, so the T stamped ones will be the ones certified as made for the tour. Finding one in near mint, virtually unused condition is really difficult. I estimate I've seen 6 or 7 in this condition since 1996. Many of these have been refinished because the finish wore prematurely, but the reproduced Oil Can finish (no longer offered as an option on restored putters from the Cameron studio) can't hold a candle to the original finish in my opinion. The original finish is an explosion of colors, yellow, gold and purple over the oily brown. This may be the most underappreciated, undervalued of Cameron's tour putter models in my opinion. BTW-I happen to have one in my collection.
This example is all original, 9.5 out of 10 condition with Art of Putting headcover. Tour "T" (Pre-Circle T) stamped on the face's toe. 35" Black art of putting headcover and original Pebble grip.
